With tired bodies and sore backsides, our 1st XV team completed their fundraising Wattbike ride shortly after 12:30pm on Sunday.

The teammates, led by Bassett's Centre, Tim Gallimore, challenged themselves to ride 1407km on the static training bike to raise funds towards the construction of the club's new Gymnasium.

Tim was joined on the challenge by RWBRFC teammates Chris Patterson, Will Hooper, Gavin Ougan, Kyle Lovell, Phil Bardwell, David Martin and Owen Richardson. Pedalling in relay over 43 hours, the team rode the equavilent distance of Land's End to John O'Groats.

The challenge in numbers:

1407 kilometers cycled

247,129 pedal strokes

32,500 total calories burnt

Those calories were refuelled by donated food deliveries from the RWB branch of SubwayBella Vita Pizza and Oscars Grill.

The team's enthusiasm saw them quickly race ahead of schedule, bringing them to the finish line 2 hours early on Sunday afternoon in front of a crowd of cheering Minis players.

The team's challenge raised over £3,000 in sponsorship with donations still being pledged.

"A massive thank you to everyone who sponsored us and to the people that popped in during the challenge to give us much needed encouragement," Tim said after completing the challenge.

The team's successful challenge will launch a series of similar fundraising events throughout the club. Each new challenge will raise funds towards the Gymnasium construction.

The team's Justgiving page will be kept open until the end of October, so please consider making a donation at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/wbrfc-wattbike-lejog
