January 2025

Christine Parkin is our volunteer of the month for January

Christine is a first aider for three age-groups, which is quite a juggling act in itself, and is always the first to volunteer in the kitchen whenever she's not pitchside.

"Oh wow, thank you! I volunteer so my kids can keep doing what they love! There are so many amazing volunteers at the club who give up their time so our children can play rugby so I am happy to help out where I can"

Congratulations, and thank you, Christine!

October 2024

Caroline Montgomery is our volunteer of the month for October

Caroline started volunteering this season when during the summer she cleaned, organised and graded all our donations of preloved kit.

Since then she has sold hundreds of items of kit, raising funds for our Minis and saving good quality kit from landfill.

"Volunteering at the Rugby Club has been, and I'm sure will continue to be, a pleasure! As a keen lover of all sports, I'm thrilled that what I do as a member of this very friendly volunteer team, enables lots of young people to play rugby. If you're thinking about getting involved, please come along. There are never too many volunteers - you may even get a complimentary bacon roll.....what's not to love?!"

Please contact Caroline if you have spare kit you could donate to the club. Donations of all sizes, including adult kit, are very welcome.

September 2024

Laura Leighfield is our unsung hero for September

Laura has been a dedicated volunteer at our club for many years, starting with the Seniors section and now serving as the Minis & Juniors secretary.

Not only does she take on administrative duties, but she’s also one of our vital first aiders, ready to step in for different age groups when needed. But Laura’s commitment goes beyond her official roles—she's quick to lend a hand in the kiosk or wherever extra help is required.

The club thrives on the passion of volunteers like Laura, and without them, we simply couldn’t function. As she puts it:

“I originally started to volunteer at the club when I was looking for something to do with my spare time. Spare time is something that I had before I had children! I didn’t just gain something to do on a Saturday afternoon, I gained so much more. Primarily friends and memories. My volunteering is now centred around the minis and junior section and supporting my sons and their teammates through their rugby playing journeys. Friendships and fun are still at the heart of the reason that I’m still volunteering at the club.”

Thank you, Laura, for being such an integral part of our club and community!
