The McCue Cup

Royal Wootton Bassett RFC vs 8 TRG BN REME

Kicking off our rugby-loaded festival will be the annual McCue Cup fixture - a celebratory rugby match between Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers Battalion and a RWBRFC President’s XV, with club representation made up from across Bassett’s senior squads.

This annual fixture is held to honour Lance Corporal James McCue, one of the Brigade’s soldiers killed serving in Iraq in 2003, as well as the respect shown by the town throughout the military repatriations.

Papa John’s Cup

Royal Wootton Bassett RFC vs Chippenham RFC

Our second match of the day will be Round 2 of the Regional 2 Championship from this year's Papa Johns Men’s Community Cup.

There are different tiers of competition that clubs have qualified into by virtue of their playing record - View the draw here. Royal Wootton Bassett and Chippenham are playing in Pool 4.

The finals of the Papa Johns Cup will be played at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday 11 May, so this will be a hotly contested local derby from two teams at the top of their game.

Outstanding value!

Entry to the Festival is £5 on the gate, with Under 18s free to enter and free car parking on site. We are pleased to be able to take payment by card.

Family fun

George Scarrott and Son’s Fun Fair will bring along family entertainment for the kids and there will be a range of attractions and stalls to browse around the field.

Our friends from REME will also be on-site with a range of static vehicle displays and Army field activities.

We will again be supporting the REME Charity, which provides assistance to members of the Corps of Royal Mechanical Engineers and their dependents. The charity supports a wide variey of activities that enable service personnel past-and-present to face the challenges and dangers associated with military service by developing and maintaining skills, fitness, confidence, character, spirit and morale.
