Dr Matthew Smith has kindly agreed to give an illustrated presentation of his experiences completing the extraordinary Mongolia Rally.

Matthew - who played rugby at Bassett up to U14s, with Jonny May - entered the rally with a co-driver, covering 16,400 miles - including driving to the start and returning from the finish - in a 1.3 Suzuki Waggon R bought second hand from Wroughton.

Additionally, special guest Jan Giles will be with the Hillman Hunter that she as navigator, won the Round The World Rally in 2000 with her late husband Freddie.

The event is free and open to the public, but donations are invited to Brighter Futures.

Bassett Classics members are encouraged to arrive in classics and form a static display - to include the Suzuki!

  • Time: Open from 4pm onwards. Presentation starts at 7pm followed by Q&A session
  • Food: A variety of hot pies will be available to purchase
