After many months of planning, work is underway on the club's new Club Gymnasium project.

The plans for our new Health & Conditioning Suite have been developed over a number of years and will ultimately see Royal Wootton Bassett RFC provided with state-of-the-art gym and strength & conditioning facilities. The new gymnasium building will have link access from the rear of the current gym, which will eventually be converted into a new secure Club Office, plus two modern Physio Studios/Consultation Rooms, which will be available for private hire.

The project has been made possible by continued generous support from Richard Crapper and the Landfill Communities Fund, which is able to direct funds to local community projects which would otherwise be paid as Landfill Tax.

Over the years Richard has been impressed with the way in which Royal Wootton Bassett RFC has grown its community activities and he is very supportive of our goal to provide local sporting facilities for our surrounding area.

Community benefit funds made by the Wiltshire Community Foundation linked to the 50MW Solar Park in Wroughton have also been a significant factor in the Gymnasium funding.

The plans were announced back in 2017 by Bassett veteran, Tim Gallimore. "The new gymnasium will create a one-of-a-kind training facility in the area for our entire membership and other user groups within the local community.  As a club we pride ourselves on developing our players to the very best of their abilities and the new facility will create an environment were we can provide the best strength & conditioning support to go with the superb on-field support we already enjoy."

Groundbreaking took place in November 2018 with Richard and Ben Hyde from Best Homes Limited - the main contractors for the project (above) - visiting the club to undertake a formal Groundbreaking Ceremony with RWBRFC Chairman Chris Elias, President Mark Wightman and Vice-Chairman Andrew Gassor.

Since then, construction has continued apace - see the site photographs below. The clock is now ticking! Weather permitting we are aiming for a completion date of late April 2019.

Watch this space for further updates as the project progresses.
