Rugby is rocking again!

Join us on Saturday 11th September to kick-off the club's Golden Jubilee season with the return of rugby to Royal Wootton Bassett.

This year we will celebrate the club's 50th anniversary, having been formed on 21st December 1971 by the original thirteen 'Founding Fathers' of WBRFC.

To mark the occasion, we are planning a Golden Jubilee Rugby Fest, with two exciting rugby matches, live music, a festival-style BBQ, and a Cider & Craft Beer marquee.

TWO GREAT RUGBY MATCHES

To kick off our Golden Jubilee Rugby Fest, we are inviting children aged 5 to 11 to give rugby a try at our Pitch up for Rugby session from 10am. No need to pre-register, just come along and join in with rugby taster session with RFU qualified coaches and our Mini rugby teams.

Then at 1pm our Second XV will take the field for a match against 8 Training Battalion REME for the McCue Cup - a celebratory rugby match to honour Lance Corporal James McCue and the respect shown by the town throughout the repatriations. The McCue family will be in attendance to present the trophy to the winning team at 2.30pm.

Then our first league match of the new season will kick off at 3pm with RWBRFC 1st XV vs Camborne RFC. The boys will welcome your support, so come along and give them a cheer!

FAMILY FUN

George Scarrott and Son’s Fun Fair will bring along family entertainment for the kids and there will be a range of attractions and stalls to browse around the field.

Our friends from REME will also be on-site with a range of static vehicle displays and Army field activities.

CIDER, CRAFT BEER & BBQ

Real Ale and Cider fans will be able to peruse a choice of Craft Beers, Ciders & Perries in our Festival Marquee. While gourmet sausages and burgers will be on the barbeque for those feeling hungry.

LIVE MUSIC

Music is always a big part of our rugby festivals. This year we have music from 60's to present day from Free 4 All, the voice of LONE STAR with his Kenny Driscol Band, and the return of club-favourite Neil Diamond tribute singer Pete Jones
