Royal Wootton Bassett RFC's Walking Rugby squad, affectionately known as the "Old Dogs", enjoyed a fantastic day at the Devizes Walking Rugby Festival.

Taking on seven other teams in glorious sunshine, the festival focused on the core values of Walking Rugby: fun, teamwork, sportsmanship and participation. The Old Dogs played a series of friendly but competitive matches throughout the day, showcasing plenty of inventive passing, well-worked tries and the skill and fitness that make Walking Rugby such an enjoyable version of the game.

As always, the emphasis was on enjoyment rather than results, although every team was keen to put in a strong performance. There was also plenty of laughter along the way, including a few worthy contenders for the festival's famous "Silly Walks" award.

The squad would like to thank Devizes RFC for hosting such a well-organised event. From the excellent playing facilities to the post-match food and refreshments, the day was a great example of the friendly and welcoming spirit that exists within the Walking Rugby community.

Walking Rugby at Royal Wootton Bassett RFC provides a fun, active and social way to stay involved in rugby. Sessions are open to anyone aged 45 and over, as well as those living with a health condition, regardless of previous rugby experience.

The Old Dogs train every Monday evening at 6pm at Ballards Ash, and new players are always welcome.
