On Friday, October 27th, our Club Volunteers' Cheese & Wine Evening took place at Royal Wootton Bassett RFC.

This annual event is a chance to give heartfelt thanks to the unsung heroes of our club – the dedicated volunteers, whose tireless contributions keep the wheels of our club turning smoothly.

The occasion also served as an opportunity to announce the recipients of the 2023 Club Person of the Year Awards, a tradition that recognizes those who have gone above and beyond in their service to Royal Wootton Bassett RFC. Club Chairman Chris Elias and President Andrew Gassor had the honour of announcing this year's deserving winners.

Junior Club Person of the Year - Harvey Cook

The Junior Club Person of the Year Award was presented to 14 year old Harvey Cook, a dedicated 2nd row player in our Under 15s team. 

But Harvey's commitment to our club extends far beyond the rugby pitch. Harvey has served as a member of our Ballboy squad since he was 9 years old, contributing to the smooth flow of senior matchdays.

His meticulous preparation of pitches, kit and changing rooms on the day of a match has been recognised as setting the stage is set for our senior teams' success.

Senior Club Person of the Year - James Booth

This year, the Senior Clubperson Award was presented to James Booth.

James will be a familiar face to many RWBRFC rugby fans, who will spot him on a match day, rain or shine, camera in hand, capturing dynamic moments of triumph and camaraderie in senior, colts, and youth games. 

A passionate photographer with a remarkable eye for capturing the excitement and intensity of a rugby match, James' images have helped elevate the reputation of our rugby teams. 

Behind the scenes, James regularly offers his impeccable photography skills to support club sponsors, public relations, and numerous club events, ensuring that our story is told with every click of the shutter.

Following the announcement of the awards, the evening's festivities continued with the screening of the England vs Argentina World Cup match on the Ballards Ash big screen, with our volunteers treated to a grand spread of cheese, wine, and delicatessen delights.

At Royal Wootton Bassett RFC, our volunteers are the lifeblood of our success, and it's their unwavering dedication that transforms our club into the thriving, family-oriented community that it is today.
