Firstly, a big thank you to all those people who came to the club on Friday evening to celebrate the success of our volunteer’s network over a glass of wine and a cheesey nibble.

Normally we would take the opportunity to recognize an individual senior and junior club person who has gone above and beyond in their work for the cub in the previous season.

With the difficulties of lockdown, the executive found it difficult to pinpoint just two individuals who stood out, as there have been so many people who have gone above and beyond to support the club during these challenging times. Whether it’s been supporting the bar opening, looking after the ground and our facilities, helping out in the beer festival or simply just renewing your membership without question, the support for our club has been invaluable.

In the circumstances we felt the correct thing to do was to announce a “Whole Club” award to recognize everyone’s contribution. Thank you for all you do. It makes our club stand out from the crowd.

In terms of membership numbers, nearly 750 people renewed their membership during lock down which is staggering. This year numbers have increased to 905 by early November. Our highest ever membership was 917 in 2019 so we look well on course to beating that record. Increasing numbers brings its own challenges but we are well positioned to meet these extra demands provided everyone has a degree of flexibility in their outlook.

New Gym

The new gym flooring has been laid and we are looking to have all the equipment in situ by the end of 2021. With a fair wind we should have a fully operational facility to start 2022.

500 Club

On Boxing Day, we will be holding our grand prize draw at the club so please come along to join in the festivities. The 500 Club is a great fund raiser for the club (and pays out some excellent prizes) so if you are not already a member, please do consider joining up next year.

Hon Secretary

Unfortunately, due to personal reasons Alan Lester has had to step down from his role as club secretary. If you feel you could help the club by undertaking this role, please speak to me or one of the other exec to learn a little about what’s involved. Its not too onerous a role and mainly revolves around the management of the monthly exec meetings etc. A little organization goes a long way!

Regards,

Chris Elias
