Last weekend some lucky RWBRFC youngsters took to the pitch at Twickenham Stadium to play rugby in front of the crowd before England's 6 Nations fixture against Scotland.

The mixed squad, made up of players from our U11-U14s and U12G-U14G Ravens teams, played against a mixed-age team from Aylesbury RFC. They also formed a guard-of-honour on the pitch before the international match.

The players were accompanied by Ravens coach Claire Chard. "A highlight for me has got to be when we walked through the tunnel to the pitch. As an English player, the dream is obviously to play at Twickenham, so having the opportunity to coach our team on the pitch was the next best thing."

"The teams played amazingly. First, they played separate games as U14s/U13s and U12s/U11s teams. Then they mixed to form teams with players from U14 to U11 - and in both occasions, the games were inclusive of all players, and I believe every player managed to score a try."

"The referee commented afterwards that they were all lovely players. Totally respectful at all times and very kind to each other. As we had a mix of boys and girls, and different ages, it was amazing to see them play so well as a team."

U13 Coach Dave Evans agrees. "I have to say what brilliant ambassadors the kids were for both RWBRFC and their parents. The skills shown on the pitch pretty much matched what England produced later in the day!"

Definitely memories that these young Bassett players will treasure for a long time.
