As if getting tackled every Saturday wasn’t testing enough, next month, a group of RWBRFC Senior players are taking on a challenge to support teammate Jamie Davison.

“7 in 7” will see 28 Bassett players take on, or support, seven half marathons in seven consecutive days - that’s 13.1 miles a day, every day, for a week.

They are taking on this challenge to support Jamie Davison, who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer earlier this year. The money raised will go towards supporting Jamie and helping in the fight against this disease, whilst supporting others affected too.

Each player will play their part across the week, with a core group of at least five players taking on the full challenge every single day (yes, really), while others rotate in to support and keep the legs moving.

“7 in 7” is a proper team effort. There’ll be early mornings, tired legs, plenty of questionable running styles, and no doubt a lot of complaints — but also a strong sense of achieving something together to help a teammate.

The challenge kicks off on Sunday 3rd May at Supermarine Rugby Club and finishes in fitting fashion, at the RWBRFC Sausage & Cider Festival on 9th May.
