Dylan Pocock, who plays in Bassett's Under 11s team, decided to take part in the Swindon Pretty Muddy Kids race on 4th September after his friend was diagnosed with cancer of the spinal cord during the summer.

Dylan followed his journey and asked if he could do something to raise funds for his friend and other children who are dealing with cancer.

Hearing about the Cancer Research UK Pretty Muddy event on the radio, Dylan set up a fundraising page with the charity and asked for support from friends and family. His fundraising pot currently sits at an impressive £640.

"He's done all of this himself." said proud dad Ben. "For a child of his age to want to help his friend and other children has shown amazing compassion."

"We are so proud of what Dylan has achieved!" agrees his mum, Sue. "On the day of the race, we arrived at Lydiard Park, and headed to the start line, and before we knew it, Dylan was off!"

The 5km run saw Dylan tackling obstacles such as hurdles, tunnels, mud baths, climbing walls, commando crawls, space hoppers, spider webs and a mudslide to finish. He crossed the line in 45 mins, earning a well-deserved medal and a bottle of water.

"It was fun raising the money but I really enjoyed getting dirty and muddy!" said Dylan. "I did it to help children with cancer like my friend and I hope the money I raised will help kids with cancer."
